If you’re starting out on the guitar, there’s no question that playing on a guitar with nylon strings (rather than steel ones) is easier or the fingers.
That will make the whole learning/practicing experience much more enjoyable. Because sore fingers is definitely the most common complaint you hear from new guitar players.
Yes, it’s true that you will eventually build up calluses, but there is no hurry. Nylon strings will do that job just fine, and the process will not be nearly as painful. It may take longer, but so what?
In fact, the ideal starter guitar is very likely NOT the one you will eventually play in public. Eventually you will probably want a guitar that has a more “professional” sound. But for starters you need something that is cheap, small, light, and easy to play.
