You may not think of the Beach Boys as a classic rock and roll band, but in fact many of their early songs sprang directly from rock pioneers like Chuck Berry. “Fun, Fun, Fun” is a perfect example. The guitar work is pure Chuck Berry with words and harmonies run through the unmistakable surf music filter.
From Wikipedia: “The opening electric guitar introduction of the original version of the song was based on Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode”, which in turn was based on the intro of Louis Jordan’s “Ain’t That Just Like a Woman (They’ll Do It Every Time)”…the initial two phrases of the song are based on almost the same chord progression as the first two phrases of “Da Doo Ron Ron,” and are melodically similar.
